Please allow me to apologize -- I'm considering replacing the
ds.pro-ns.net CDR node. "cryptofortress.com" is mine, and I had believed
I only had it set up to forward cypherpunks postings to a testing list
while I worked on the details. Obviously, this was not the case,
and I have deactivated

I think formail should be concatenating the lines before making the
check, but I see that it has a -c option that may help.

I've set mine to 128. It had been 12800.
I see duplicates from certain people very consistently. I've
suspected that they address their mail to multiple CDRs and are
getting unique Message-IDs for each, but I've never checked into
it.

just as easily run on a Windows
machine and do the same job, and there's been very little interest
in having a widespread network of little remailers for workstations.

the cypherpunk nodes and how it helps cut down the spam. It's

It doesn't have to be remotely administered to be subject to hacking.
Windows 9X is not remotely administer-able, and it is hacked all the
time.

anyone think that the FBI will do better on their black box?
As I said, all of these are less important than the real reasons for
disliking Carnivore, but they're also valid. The Agent's quip about
"using _electricitry_" irks me.

I agree with other posters that removing toad.com mail gets rid of
a great deal of garbage. I've found the list to be much more readable
in the last couple weeks.

I scanned back and saw some toad posts that weren't spam, though, from
list notables such as Bill Stewart and (ironically) John Gilmore. You
guys might consider changing your posting habit.

No, the procmail recipe doesn't do any clever replying. Your suggestion
might be useful if the idea takes off. So far, it's not at all clear
that the idea will take off -- signups on the new filtering version
of the list have not been overwhelming -- which isn't that surprising,
really.
