ld command not found when configuring w3m

hi there i want to compile w3m a textual web browser for emacs. when i run ./configure i get an error that the script can't find the ld command. do i need it, is it possible that it wasn't part of my cygwin installation and if so, where can i find it? thanks a lot, olli -- Unsubs

Emacs-w32 fails to display certain unicode characters that GNU Emacs is able to display

Problem definition: Running both emacs-w32 (GNU Emacs 24.3.1 (i686-pc-cygwin) of 2013-03-11 on fiona) and GNU Emacs (GNU Emacs 24.2.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.1.7601) of 2012-08-29 on MARVIN) side by side, there are some unicode characters that display fine on GNU Emacs, but show up as squares on emacs-w32
