this seems to have caused a
regression. With cygwin-1.5.24-2 and textmode mounts:
$ echo '0' > x ; ( exit `cat x` )
: numeric argument required
With 1.5.18 (yeah, I know, it's ancient), 1.5.20, or linux, the above
works as expected (with either binmode or textmode
just joined this list, and so I haven't seen the angry mobs beating
this roadkill to death. ;-)
I'm really not trying to be a PITA (really! ;-) but, if people really
don't want to be annoyed by questions like mine, then these common
questions should really be put into the FAQ
