So what would be a cool solution for this problem?

Hello Corinna,
thank you for your answer - that's great news! Currently we're planning to
stay on Cygwin 1.5 as long as 1.7 is not declared final and stable. How
would I be able to get OpenSSH 5.2p1-3 into my 1.5 installation?

an unattended installation.
How could we fix this situation - are there any preinstall-requisites
required on the target system, e.g. setting special ACLs?
BTW: We only use the US versions of all windows releases so the symbolic

Hello Brian,
I already tried that, but the installer wouldn't unpack the new file...I'll
try to modify it again during today, but I've got to attend to some
meetings so let's see when I will find the time to do so...I'll report back
in any case...thanks so far,

I'm sorry, but I don't seem to be able to correctly update

"setup.exe" won't extract the package I create and I end up with a bash not
even knowing ls or cp. I tried using 7-Zip and editing with Notepad++ on

Here is where it tries to find and source the files in profile.d but it
can't because of something odd going on with $TMP. You'll probably need

Hello List,
We have made up an unattended installer package for cygwin using Nullsoft
Installer. This package works on all x32 and x64 versions of Windows 2000,
XP and Server 2003. Testing with Windows Server 2008 we discovered a
problem: At the end of the installation, cygwin.bat is executed by
Adding the following lines to /etc/profile to delet the variables didn't
help anything:
TMP=
TEMP=
TMPDIR=
The same error occured a the same place, so it's neither a solution nor
even a workaround for our problem.

"setup.exe" has finished, the Nullsoft-Installer copies and overwrites the
original "/etc/profile" with our customized version which is then run every

Corinna: I don't think there is a version of Server 2008 for the ia64
platform (yet?). So completely obviously he means the x86_64 flavour.
However: the 1.5.25-12 installs and works on all our 2008 installations, no
matter if 32 or 64bits...

to install SSH on the domain controller itself?
Any guidance in this matter would be appreciated.
