I have tried to rebuild ROOT 4.03.02 (a CERN application) with CYGWIN
1.5.13-1 (with the previous 1.5.12-1 all worked fine).
When I try to unpack the source root_v4.03.02.source.tar.gz with
tar -xzvf root_
it take long, long time. The CPU is working at 100% and I am constrained

I have experimented the same thing reported by R.M., D.J. and A.C. on
Windows 2000 SP4, with CYGWIN 1.5.13-1 and 1.5.14-1.
TeTeX 2.0.2 works fine.

I have installed teTeX 3.0.0-2 and
latex demo.tex
works!
Than I have tried
pdflatex demo.tex
obtaining (summary because, now, I can't reproduce it)

This time there is NOT core dump (that is present in 3.0.0-1).
So, I reinstalled
I am tried as Administrator:

$ shutdown now
WARNING!!! System is going down NOW
shutdown: Couldn't shutdown: Error 5 Accesso negato.
(also "shutdown 5" does not work)

Hi,
I have noted that in /var/log/ there are setup.log and setup.log.full.
setup.log contains the description of all my CYGWIN packages installation
from the first installation (Jun 2003): it is a file of 250 MB! Can I
remove these files without corrupt the CYGWIN installation?

with the package gmp-4.1.4-1 I have the same problems that were present
with 4.1.3 and that WERE NOT present with 4.1.2!
I have downloaded the source gmp-4.1.4.tar.bz2 from
http://www.swox.com/gmp/
and have built it and uninstalled the Cygwin GMP package.
With this source, all works fine (as
