$ updatedb
/usr/bin/find: /: No such file or directory
Most other things worked...
This was caused by:
$ echo $CYGWIN
notitle glob check_case:strict server=1
$ mount | grep 'on / '
C:\Program\Cygwin on / type system (binmode)
$ cd /
$ CMD.EXE
3 matches
