I installed 5.61, and managed to install DBI. However the system still

Can't recolle
perl -MCPAN -e shell
+
install DBI or
install CPANPLUS
both completely crash windows under cygwin.
The files:
DBI-1.37.tar.gz
CPANPLUS-0.042.tar.gz
are downloaded and the last action seems to have been starting zlib and
doing some checksums.

Yes, using setup.exe should make it as easy as possible, you find perl
in the category 'Interpreter' or the full listing (and setup.exe is

I've been having problems with the latest version of Perl (5.8.0-3)
while running/installing from CPAN on WinME. Using the previous version
(5.6.1-2) seems to work fine for me when installing from CPA

reported several times and we have no fix for this yet.
Why there was an ActiveState directory created is dubios.
What is in your /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/CPAN/Config.pm (there are the
user defined settings)?
