been using Cygwin without errors since then, so
nothing was installed between the time it worked and when it stopped
working.

This is a very recent version of Cygwin -- it was updated 6 days ago.
Any ideas what might be wrong? Perhaps something that wasn't cleaned
up during shutdown if the process did get killed?
Thanks!

USER\Console has a Cygwin subkey (and a Git
Bash subkey, but I don't use Git Bash). I don't know if that is still
in use (given comments re. Cygwin not needing the registry any longer,
which I may have misinterpreted), but with the odd behavior, maybe it
is still in use.

I rebooted. Aaaand (drumroll) Cygwin setup ran to completion and
fixed the shortcut.
Yay! Thanks, Andrey!!
Just curious...I wonder what was giving bash fits...

Package: base-files
base-files-profile.sh exit code 254
That one doesn't want to complete. And with errors, apparently setup

:-(
So...any ideas what might be wrong? Should I reinstall Cygwin? Or
keep trying to reinstall base-files

Hello,
I need to access from MS Windows to UNIX system using OpenSSH (from Cygwin).
Both will be authenticated against MS Active Directory. But problem is if the
OpenSSH from Cygwin using Kerberos ticket from Windows workstation or not?
Thanks a lot.

I can compile and run the latest (stable) mpd, but whenever it would
fork (like if its run as a daemon or mpc tries to play it), it crashes
with:

IIRC $HOME is set in /etc/profile. You can easily change /etc/profile
to do what you like. What I used to do is make one /etc/profile then
everybody symlinked to it.
Unfortunately, that won't work for us here, since Cygwin is primarily
used by CS people who want a UNIX environment on their laptop,
From the Cygwin FAQ:
When starting Cygwin from Windows, `HOME' is determined as follows in
order of decreasing priority:
1. `HOME' from the Windows environment, translated to POSIX form.

I know too, now that Igor posted the link to that patch.
Google is my friend, but Igor has a better user interface :-)

For example , to see what versions of the cygwin DLL src are available
look at:
<ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/sources.redhat.com/cygwin/release/cygwin/>
You could then grab a recent src snapshot with:
<ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/sources.redhat.com/cygwin/release/cygwin/cygwin-1.5.13-1-src.tar
ith a text selection and then after using Windows to copy a
program (right click, copy),
or after taking a screen snapshot (cntrl-alt-prntScrn).
I am using Cygwin DLL 1.5.13-1 on Win2k V5 SP4, below is the output
of cygcheck.

FWIW (probably not much), I also verified that the MD5 sum on my

I'm attempting to install wxPython from the source wxPythonSrc-2.5.2.7
on Cygwin.
I am able to run 'configure' ok, but when I run the make file i get

getarg; this is causing "SIGSEGV" crashes in the processing of
options. It works well under linux; the first difference is that the
original is compiled with gcc-2.95.3.
So - where can I get a cygwin gcc-2.95.3 package?
Also: any ideas about the segmentation errors?

Bug reporting: http://cyg
Hi, it seems that the cyg non-XF86 program 'rxvt' is misnamed --
it's too easy to confuse it with the real thing. Anyhow, I was
wondering if anyone has had any success changing the font that it
uses -- I need to get line-drawing characters working so when
I telnet to other systems, things display
if the error holds a clue. It seemed to complete ok.
Again, I'm using the latest rsync, copying from Solaris to Win98se with
the latest cygwin.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

The only cygwin speific thing I noticed in the docs was a mention of
the option to not fork the daemon, which it says is important on cygwin.
But I didn't notice a difference.
