Problem
fused as I expected that crc32 is rather located in cygz.dll
(crc32() is in zlib.h). There's only one cygwin1.dll inside Cygwin's
/bin folder. qemu was linked with '-lz'. That doesn't make any sense
to me as something in the toolchain must have mixed up the library
calls.

ioperm.sys should work without cygwin. Also the installer
(with some tweaks, but you did it). So, sorry, I'm unable to hel you. OTOH, the
installer is quite simple, so you could debug where the problem is.
Also, running ioperm without cygwin is not supported :-).

I've been using a particular set of C-code for years

some Sun) and could always get it to work when I moved
to a new machine.
Now, I'm trying to get it to work on a PC with cygwin.

How can I read the microphone signal through cygwin?
Simply read()ing from /dev/dsp fails -- it doesn't seem to be implemented.
I found a post from as far back as 1999 asking the same question.
Is someone working on this?

free to chose any license you want (including proprietary) for your
software.
