The file /etc/passwd needs to be properly created.
Type 'man mkpasswd' for better directions than I can give, and search for
mkpasswd in the mailing lists. Also

If that doesn't work, change the environment variable PS1 to something less
alarming :

I can confirm that setup 2.218.2.4 works on my Win2k SP2 box. Both install
from internet and install from loc
I'm not certain how cygwin/UNIX handles color, but I do know that in the DOS
of old, you relied on a TSR (ANSI.SYS) to handle the escape codes which gave
you color. I would also guess that these escape codes are not the same as
the UNIX color escape codes (too long ago to remember them).
