I want cygwin to silently run the package manager and update my system
everytime I login.
I have over 100 vm's that I use for various things and it is quite the
hassle to update every component in the system on each launch so am
looking for solutions or ideas on how to automatically update thi
When I run:
$cygrunsrv --start cron
I get:
cygrunsrv: Error starting a service: StartService: Win32 error 1069:
The service did not stat due to a logon failure.
I think I have done everything correctly when I ran : $cron-config and I
have everything installed correctly.
I also tried:
I need to run a .bat file on startup that will launch a cygwin bash script.
I can put the .bat file in the folder "startup" to connect some network
drives and then I want to launch a bash script.
Can this be done?

I know this is possible with just the Cygwin.bat script. I copied that
and in there put my rxvt.exe command.

This did the trick, thanks:
Uninstalling:
git-completion (bash completion would not un-install without
uninstalling this as well)
bash completion
both uninstalled and I have a fast ls and made my VM usable again.
thanks!

The host machine is a quad core with 8GB ram, only one VM running at a
time (1GB & 16GB disk with plenty of space).
Everything else is super zippy except for cygwin.

Problem re
Is it possible to install grub on a windows partition using grub? If so
how is this done?
I have followed instructions found on the web and it fails. the grub
scripts point to the wrong paths on cygwin.
Who packages this for cygwin and can I speak with them?

The documentation makes me think. Please do not make me think.
Is there a reason this does not come by default? Is cygwin installed on
non windows systems like Linux?
jeez, why is this so complicated? Why am I forced to think about crap

I have tried installing grub using a Linux distro (CentOS) but this is

Also the grub list cannot help because this is a cygwin specific issue.
