(openDX), but it was ineffective. After upgrading
my 6-month-old cygwin version to the latest one (with Xorg instead of
Xfree) that switch actually works; I have no trouble allocating half my
total RAM.
So, I guess we'll never no exactly where the problem was, but I'm happy now.
tings I can tweak so that cygwin will allocate a decent
amount of RAM to applications running on it?

with a message that begins, "Error: Couldn't find XWin anywhere."
Should I have another attempt at a 2-3 hour download and hope for the
