Hi,
I installed the cygwin distribution (February 14) on Windows XP and am
having trouble with spaces my home directory "/cygwin/c/Documents and
Settings/largy". For example, when I run the command "startx" at the
bash prompt I get:

I've answered my own question. There is no concept of versioning for the
entire cygwin distribution (source: the cygwin FAQ).

Tim,
The "cygcheck" command can be used to print detailed information about
all your installed Cygwin software ("cygcheck -s", "cygcheck --help",
"man cygcheck"). The Cygwin DLL itself can be identified with "uname
-a". Most of the executable programs in Cygwin will disclose their
version when

The attached script launches the ssh-agent (via keychain) from cygrunsrv so
that it survives logout.

Hi All...
What is the easiest method to make the ssh-agent process survive logout on
win-2k when using keychain?
I thought about a sleeping process under cygrunsrv with the --noask option
and then add the keys in my .profile
If I kill the process and then launch it from ssh localhost it sticks

by default win2k installation, all user have their
path at:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\
if I want user to share the same path in cygwin, sould
creating a symbolic link in /:
ln -s /cygdrive/c/Documents\ and\ Setting/ /home
suffies???

Hi All...
I made a small patch to keychain, so that it creates an additional pid file
named ~/ssh-agent.bat
This allows non-cygwin ssh-aware programs (such as unison) to take advantage
of the keychain functionality. The new file can be used from a windows
command script by

It's a known issue. Setup has been like that since I first used it - I don't
know whether by intent or accident. There

Hello,
is there a way to completly disable access tho paths below /cygdrive ?
i.e. to make /cygdrive/* invisible/inaccessible ?
I have setup sshd on my machine and now some developer can ssh into my
machine
and help me with developing stuff under cygwin.
He can do what he wants inside c:\cygwin -

Hello Cygwinners,
i`m trying to compile enbd package (freshmeat.net/projects/enbd/) on cygwin.
The Package consists of a userspace daemon (which should be portable) and of
a linux kernel module
(which should be not so portable) ;)
I have come some steps forward, but since I`m no programmer at al
Hello!
I'd like to announce the public availability of my program "X-Host
Chooser" (or short: "xhc") at http://xhc.berlios.de/.
xhc is a tool which allows to easily call XWin.exe from Cygwin/XFree.
With this tool, it's very easy to connect to a remote machine, especially
if all you need is a way

Why does cygwin setup want to downgrade perl from 5.8 to 5.6? Is this
intentional or accidental? The following excerpt from
http://archive.progeny.com/cygwin/setup.ini
shows 5.8 is listed under a [test] section.
