[css-d] syntax for negating

I have some CSS that looks like this, and I want to change it so that it is not applied to td's that have the class 'chosen', but I cannot figure out the correct syntax. For a simple case this works: table:not(.chosen) {color:red;} But for complex ones as below how do i specifhy that? .tables
