To start, unfortunately, I have no idea how to reproduce this, nor how
to trigger it. All I know is that occasionally I will go away and come
back hours later to discover that compiz is locked up tight.
What I see when this happens is the lock screen (screen locks when the

What was the installation issue? I personally observed this on 10
different systems, all installed the same way with the default install
options for Ubuntu. If this is due to something in the way we were
installing, it would be good to know how to prevent that in the future.

Nope... just rechecked on two freshly updated EeePCs. both display the
corruption issue. The L512 is the only system I've tried so far that
did not exhibit this behaviour.

This may be fixed in recent updates. I noted this on every laptop I've
tested this week, but today, on the latest test system, a Lenovo L512
with integrated Intel graphics, this did not happen with either external
VGA or DisplayPort. This system was installed and updated freshly this
morning.

Marking as invalid since A: it's no longer an issue and B: it was never
fully triaged and linked to a milestone, or anything else...

This bug seemed to have disappeared by the time 10.04 was released.
Since then I have installed Lucid on several systems and have not seen
this issue recur.

Performed a Karmic -> Lucid upgrade and most all things went well. One
thing that didn't go quite well was the GUI. In Karmic, I had Compiz

This hit me as well last night in a Karmic - Lucid upgrade. Also, in
Karmic, I had already had 6 workspaces configured, and desktop wall
turned on with sliding and such... none of that was enabled, and I am
stuck with 2 workspaces and no way to enable more.
That's the worst part because I use 4 -
