Hi all,
(Cheers, I'm new to the list - I got a 1980 C&C 36 a year ago in May and
have been sailing and fixing/improving her since. Calling from Helsinki,
Finland.)
It's kinda funny, I have an opposite problem. The V-berth door doesn't
close when the shrouds are tightened, but that's because the d
Hi,
I just had a similar charging issue. The motor is a Yanmar 3gm30f. The
alternator was not original. With Nigel Calder's "Boatowners Mechanical and
Electrical Manual" (highly, highly recommended!) I was able to trace the
issue to a faulty charging regulator. We weren't close to home at the time
Hi,
Not directly answering your question, but there's a Danish guy called Mads
Dahlke who's doing a complete core replacement on the deck of his project
sailboat. He has an addictive YouTube channel on the project and he's
discussing the topic in detail. If you have a bit of extra time, you might
If you know anyone with a 3d printer and basic working knowledge of 3d
design software, such a cover can be 3d printed easily. UV durability for
some plastic types might be an issue, so probably the end result should be
painted in the end. Materials costs would be negligible, but if you would

Hi,
I'd replace the seacocks. Even if you'd never use them in regular
conditions, you're much better off if, say, a hose breaks and you need to
contain the leak.
Cheers,

Hi,
I've got a 1980 C&C 36 with a tilting keel. I've been doing a bit of
repairs on the boat since the beginning of August, mostly re-bedding deck
hardware to fix various leaks and to prevent further water damage to the
deck sandwich construction. I had removed the mainsheet traveller, and

Hi,
I'd check the battery and alternator connections carefully. And the main
switches, too. If the batteries get disconnected while the motor is on, the
alternator will create a load dump that can be even over 100V for a
fraction of a second. In principle, automotive and marine electronics
should
Hi,
I've just ordered new hatches for my C&C 36, 1980 vintage. :-) The saloon
hatch opening is 446mm by 320mm. A size 30 flat base hatch (such as Lewmar
Ocean 30) should fit really well.
FWIW, I ended up ordering these Bainbridge hatches:

... if you need any other measures taken, just ask!
