Edd,
On Wednesday afternoon 8-13, Knot Again (dark blue hulled 35-3) and
a friend's boat hope to pick up 2 guest moorings at Morris YBC. We have
raced in the ALIR and a few years ago we were even through much of the
race after entering the sound. If you are around and would like to say

I know the battery topic has been discharged (pun intended) quite a bit, but
I've been hearing about people using chained 6V Golf Cart batteries as a

Has anyone tried this? If so, how many do you use? 4? 6? 8? Any problems? Happy

Hello All,
For the last few years, I had a significant loss of oil whenever I
ran the engine for more than a few minutes. During 1 run through Hell's
Gate back to home waters in Raritan Bay, the oil light and buzzer
sounded (naturally at the worst time). We hoisted the sails and sailed

Hello All,
I have owned Knot Again, a 35-3 for about 25 years. I have raced and
cruised with her extensively. She is one of the winning-est boats in the
Middle Atlantic states. 18 trophies in the Around Long Island Regatta,
multiple club championships. Multiple NJ offshore racing conference

Neil,
If you can get a 35-3 for 25k, close as fast as you can. Mine (1984) is
for sail and is 20k more. It is an absolutely wonderful boat, sails
better than most, fast, safe and will give you many years of satisfied
ownership. I bought mine in 93 and have loved every day I have owned it.

Insurance experience
My C&C 35-3 has been insured by Allstate for the last 25 years and I
have experience with 3 major claims. Once, while transiting Plum Gut
with my son at the helm, doing about 8 kts with the big chute up, we hit
an unseen, underground spire submerged 6' below the surface. 20

I also have a 35-3. I put 2 solar powered vents in, one in the head
hatch feeding air in and one in the main salon hatch set to exit air.
The combo works well and the boat is never stuffy after it sits for a
few days. Cut the plexiglass in the hatch to size, caulk and you will

Hello All,
Knot Again, my 35-3 which I have lovingly owned since 1993, has been for
sale as I am moving to California. I am doing one last price reduction
and am now offering, what IMHO is the nicest and best prepared 35-3
available for $35,900.00. Anyone interested in copious info and pix on
I'd like to second the plug for the Raritan PH II. I've put one in the
last 2 boats I'v owned (dating from 1990). The one in Knot Again is as
much of a good working unit as the on eI put in my previous boat in
1990. NO service issues and very reliable.

Dave,
One of the most important things you can do with this install is insure proper

hoses that are too small. If you find or have a tank made, put in the largest

After 32 years, my 3GMD is loosing about 1 qt of oil/10 hrs of running.
It runs great and does not seem to smoke. I think the seals are weeping
and causing the oil loss. Does anyone know if the 3GDF is a direct swap
for the 3GMD, as "F" is more readily found. Thanks.

Knot Again,
Hello All,
Now that the boat (35-3) is on the hard, I was able to clean the engine
and try to locate the source of my oil leak(s). It appears that the
culprit is the dipstick! The rubber seal no longer is able to stay in
place, rises up and allows oil out of the crankcase when under power.

I replaced the Martec on my 35-3 many years ago with a Flex-0-Fold 2

issue worth mentioning is you need to mark your prop shaft to note when
the blades are at the 9 & 3 position when racing. otherwise, one blade
