Hi Jim
you know ... sailingboats / sailing is a little bit like religion, so
discussing with someone who is believing in an other god or boat, is ok,
if you are in one room and enough beer is available, otherwise I would
recommend ... let people believe what they want to believe and enjoye
y
luck. That`s why the best sailors are sailors started sailing as kids.

Good morning
I agree that a topic like DIY autopilot is not a topic for a mailing
list, but to start a discussion on an other platform.
The forum of C&C Album is not available for me. When I try to visite
this site I`m getting following failure message:

I´ve installed last year a ham radio on board and did some experiements
to get it work. Main problem was the ground situation. I solved that:
- connect rudder shaft via capasitor to ground
- wire to keel bolt, tanks etc
- laying aluminium sheet on the skin inside in way of engine/Coxkpit
etc,

last October I made my ham radio licence. Whatever, hard stuff.
Of cause my main idea is to bring the ham radio onto Colomba (C&C34) and
I`m wondering ho to install the antenna. Perhaps someone had same idea
and some solutions.
In the moment I`m modelling the boat incl. rig
and the antenna?
Most SSB installations I'm familiar with use an auto-tuner along with
the fully-isolated backstay.
See if this helps: http://www.yachtcom.info/backstay/index.html

Good day
btw it`s spring time ;-) Colomba was launched last Saturday. Some
minor things have to be done and I hope to get the ham radio station
running on short wave during the next days.
Whatever one thing is not running. Unexpected and I do not have a
real idea what happend, cause
okidok, Damp 2000 is just 6 miles away from the entrance of the Schlei,

What they tested was stupid. A friend of mine went on shown rocks by

took only 30 min to scrap his boat totaly due to the waves
would say, your battery is low (more or less damaged). In this case
voltage will decrease during starting the engine and computer will shut
down. I had same last year, new battery, everything fine again.
