I have a different boat, but the strut is through bolted to a very thick
backing plate with four very large bolts, maybe 3/8". I also believe the hull
is about an inch thick at that point. I encourage you to look further. You
may have to remove the floor and/or box.

35, it had a bent drive shaft from where previous owner’s boatyard lifted the
boat with the sling too far aft and the rear sling slid back onto the prop

If it's just about fairing, I would prepare the area religiously, and use
epoxy with fillers of choice, definitely including some glass fibres for
strength. If you load the resin with glass it will be a b1tch to sand,
