Keep the 40 in here in the NE. Buy a condomaran in the south and move it about.
There is an old joke...what is fun to ride but you don't want your friends to
see you on? A moped and a condomaran.

I totally lost interest in owning a cruising cat once I saw them picked up by
hurricanes*. I have enough to worry about in storms without the added
possibility of becoming a very poor aircraft that is about to suffer a likely
fatal crash landing. Also it seems every year the cats mutate away fro
I've sailed a Hobie, Tornado, and a 26 and 30 foot Wharram designed cats
(no bridge accommodations).
All of them were fast boats, and to some extent fun boats. They all
tacked well, the Hobie being the worst of
them all, and they all felt like sailing the clubhouse. No need for cup

Not all cats float, which surprised me. I read about a Lagoon (maybe?) that
sank around the Azores someplace. I had not thought that possible.
If you even get to sail a Condor 40, you’ll have plenty of helm feel and pass
all the slowpokes doing only 20 knots. On the down side they make a C&C 30 l
:-) Thanks I'll add that to my argument next time I'm discussing with
my friend.

The propeller on Touche's Nexus Classic masthead wind sensor stopped
turning. Why it stopped I don't know. It has worked for 20+ years,
surviving Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav and, recently, Sally, and worked fine
in October on the trip from Pensacola to Mandeville, LA.

When I started refitting Secret Plans I replaced all 3 hatches. The one

In the late sixties, I visited East Boothbay Harbor where a replica of the
yacht America was being built. It was commissioned by Rudi Schaefer of
Schaefer Brewing company. Any relation Charles?

Speaking of the replica America I was dock boy at the Mystic Seaport in the
late 60’s when she came in to spend a few days. The ship was just drop dead
gorgeous. I recall the Schaefer’s and crew as most hospitable. As it turns
out, while they were here the movie about the ship aired for the
I wish we were related. I understand they had some real money and donated
heavily to Mystic Seaport also.
I went aboard the America replica when it was visiting Atlantic City many years
ago, though I only got to walk the deck. It is an amazing boat and the video
