Hope it all works out ok in the end. Thanks for the heads-up on this; I
will have to check out policy to see what it says.

Hello all,
During the rendezvous, there was a brief discussion about radar and
mounting options. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts and experiences
with radar, and which mounting location (mast, backstay, or on pole/arch
aft of cockpit) you prefer, and why.

Had pole. Big and ugly. Have backstay mount for years. Love it on my 40-2.

Ought a Garmin radiometric to match our chart plotter. Looked into backstay

Shawn,
On Calypso we have the radar antenna mounted on a stern pole with a Scan Strut
adjustable tilt base. On the C&C 36 we owned before the 43 we had a Questus
back stay pole with a dampened mount. The dampening is necessary to prevent
radar cable wire fractures from repetitive bending.

Hello Martin,
For "Phantom" that would be Escanaba, MI on the bay of Green Bay in Lake
Michigan. It was the pride of our harbor, my hometown and yes owned by the

Greg,
Thanks for the additional details from when “Calypso” was “Phantom”. It must
have been great having 3 classic C&C designs around during the early years of
your sailing experience. I know my 5 years (including 2
Seattle/LA/Honolulu/Seattle summers) on a C&C 39 early in my big boat racing
