Here are some thoughts: When the tachometer (Ign. Sw.) is first turned on, pointer must go to between zero to 50 RPM . If not, check connections (if OK, tachometer is probably faulty). Voltages, with engine running should be: IGN to GND term

I am glad you chimed in first, Jeff, Great pointers - I was (wrongly) going to suggest he check his alternator, as that is where my Kubota got its tachometer info from.
