Agreed on that approach, as it is what I did on our Yanmar 3jh2e when I needed
to spin the impeller a little bit as I was removing it.

I know I'm late to the game with my responce but all of those hatches have
"roll stop" hinges. As long as you buy the appropriate number of hinge
sets in the kit then you should be fine. I replaced mine and was shocked
at how little wear and compression it took to make the stop not work.

I repowered with a Yanmar 3YM30 a few of years ago and still have the old
starting handle for the 3QM30, which is not compatible with the new engine.
