Hello all
Hey Martin just wanted to thank you for advice on this project
I was able to save most of the old chainplate and had no problem glassing it in.
The museum curator was also great in getting me drawings.
The boat went into the water June 16th and I just now got back from first solo
sail

Sitting on his C&C 40, Peregrine, give her some love in the form of new hoses
and an oil change and a 6th coat of varnish.

On the way to and from our racing area, my Beta-25 with only 390 hours on it
was running fine and then it dies.
It started up right away, ran for a few minutes then died again.
We sailed out of the channel for about 10 minutes, started it up again with no
problems and it ran for 20-30 minutes
It does sound like a fuel filter issue.

You also might check the air filter. I had a similar problem when my air
filter got clogged from dust from a slipping belt.

I agree, sounds like fuel supply issue. BTW you guys looked good out there
racing (or was it drifting). I really like the C&C logo on the main!

If the fuel line has a filter on the end of it at the bottom of the fuel
tank, it can suck fuel until it clogs. When it stopped sucking the fuel
up (engine stops), it unclogs and then sucks fuel to the combustion
chamber againuntil it clogs again. Obviously, the time of this
process varie

Hi Joel,
My son and I did the Race to Baltimore yesterday. Light winds but a fun race w
60 boats that finished next to the docks in the harbor. Damn hot. After the
race we took a slip and plugged into shore power to run the AC and the cabin
was heaven after the party.

One other I have experienced is the fuel line inner liner collapsing and
starving the engine .

Dan,
Thanks for the update and congrats on a successful repair/upgrade. It seems
that with older C&Cs we don't have to wait long for the next project.
If you are going to spend a lot of time sailing solo, sail and line handling
upgrades often result in immediate gratification.

Seems my Raymarine 4000STPlus has a problem. It does not work. The display is
displaying and all buttons seem to work. Today it kept displaying XTE. I pulled
the motor connection and read a short pulse of volts at the socket when I tried
to change course through the controller. The motor surged
Here’s a link to the repair manual for the 4000+:

If the motor works, the problem is probably inside the wheel, either the gear
or the belt. It’s easy to take apart and investigate.

This sounds very similar to the issues I had (with a different engine)/ It
turned out to be the fuel filter. I hope that this is the case for you.

Many recommend removing that “filter” (it is usually just a wire mesh screen).
