I've been fighting a leak for a while and with the persistent rain here in
the PNW finally found the culprit. The aft deck brackets for the spinnaker
pole hardware had not been tightened, worse yet I found a 3/8" ratchet
drive with a 7/16" socket jammed up in the overhead rusted to one of the

Dan,
That's pretty funny - if its not your boat! I would remove the bracket and
check to make sure that if it is wood core at that location it is not
rotted. If it is, it may not be a big deal if it is just around the hole.

It depends on the jib. On some boats (mine), you can move the car forward like
Joel says, on others (like the J-24 I used to race on and the J-80 I race on
now) you have a separate short track inside the shrouds to run the jib (blade
type) through.

It doesn’t sound so much like you are a lousy cretin, as you are a lazy Drunk!
I am just kidding of course, you should make him sand the bottom by himself for

Hi Peter, glad you're still at it. I met you a couple of years back at
Toronto Sailing & Canoe Club when you brought your kids along for the
presentation. My parter Megan and I still talk about that sometimes, she'll
be glad to know you're still out there. The C&C 39 is a beautiful boat. We

I like having a hand crank for my A4. I've had to use it too and it was
easy, though I also 'practiced' when it wasn't needed, just so I could
know. If you can get one it's a good thing to have (if you've got the room
to swing it).

Besides for standard PHRF classes this year we will have Cruising and CHESS.
CHESS is single handed/double handed and Cruising is casual sailors that might
not have much experience or a valid rating.
Hope the email system does not mangle this too much.

Did that race for many, many years, starting way back in the 70’s. Nice race up
the river, a great anchorage and nice party. Still have a couple of the
T-shirts. And my old One Design class still has a start. Too cool.
And that CHESS 1/2 race sounds like the one to do.
Cheers,

Hi,
I just rebuilt the 3QM30 which I received when I purchased Johanna Rose. The
previous owner had the engine removed and dismantled, and I received the engine
as a bare block with boxes of rusty parts. It was a real basket case. This
weekend I managed to shoehorn the engine back in, and
Just noticed my wife is using the pewter cup as a vase in the kitchen from
1990, 1st in Laser 28. Lots of good memories of that race. Two yars ago was
great, too!

Jim,
That’s a familiar looking muffler. I ditched mine a half dozen years ago and
put in a Vernalift. Mine is small, but fits the space nicely. The fiberglass
should last forever now. Of course, that’s probably what they said about the
stainless one too!
