Atkins and Hoyle are still in business and will refurbish and repair old
hatches. My brother just had his done recently. I'm sure you can Google
them. Eric Atkins has relocated the facility to Trenton, ON, just west of
Kingston.

If this was discussed I somehow missed it. 1967 C&C Yawl for 35k.
Looks beautiful but they seem to be having difficulty selling.
What's wrong with this picture?

Ron,
She does look nice, but you are talking about a 47 year old yawl. There is
a pretty small pool of buyers out there for that boat.
I'm surprised to see 286 C&C's listed on Yachtworld. Would have guessed
way lower.

Paul, if Joel doesn't take the Hatch, I need on too! My 1985 spec sheet states
"A&H model 210", but the hatch is Bomar hatch... go figure?

My autopilot has developed 2 annoying behaviours. One is it will release on its
own at times. I need a bungee on the engagement lever or it will creep up and
let go at random times. The other one is despite the gasket looking good, water
gets in the computer box. I have to drain it every now and

Hi Brent,
Maybe 'cause the CDN has dropped compare to Euro? :)
Seriously though, Happy Anniversary Canada. Only 147 years as a nation.
This is a little late in the morning since the missus & I had a
really nice sleep-in after working 14, twelve or more hour days on an
annual boiler shutdown.

In 1998 when we first looked at buying Calypso the listing said "Swan like
quality at a C&C price" or something to that effect. Having been recently
crawling around in all of Calypso's deep dark recesses performing deck repair
work I would have appreciated a higher level of attention to detail
I have the same Auto Obsolescence 4000 auto pilot. Thankfully it still
works like a charm* (though it comes in the cabin when not actively in
use).
*We will see if it is still charming after our trip over the Columbia Bar
and up the coast to Victoria, BC on Friday...

Planning on cleaning and painting the storage areas on our 30-1. The
wonderfully immortal butyl hull/deck sealant has dripped and drooped in
many places. Any tips on the best cleanup strategy?
(PS. It was gusting 30-35 knots and 86F in the marina Sunday, but half a
mile out our neighbors reported
I'd remove as much as possible with a plastic putty knife, and then use
mineral spirits to dissolve the rest. IIRC, Denatured Alchohol also
works, but don't remember for sure.

Butyl cleans up easiest when it's cold. Get it early in the morning or go
offshore for a while. Long Olfa knife blades and patience.
