The owner of "Secret" also owns Port Milford - the yard on the left just after
the yacht club. I take Indigo there to winter - and have never had any trouble
getting in or out at any state of tide. Can't speak to further up the river.

Funny, just dropped a boat off in Milford at 2 this afternoon. There was plenty
of water; the least I saw in the channel to Milford Boatworks was 10'.

I would verify depths in Milford by
calling first. I truly have no idea how anyone with 8' draft gets
in and out even at the apex of high tide. I'm sure they must have
done some serious dredging since I stopped going there about 5
years ago, or what you are saying
We've stayed overnight in Milford several times over the last couple of years
(6'6" draft) with no issues, an there is a Nelson Marek 42 (Secret) that races
out of Port Milford that draws 8', so if you're careful you should be OK. We
love Port Jefferson, and normally pick up a mooring at the Se
Do we need to have someone local to arrange this? If not, we could consider
places like Sag Harbor or Shelter Island. I have heard Old Saybrook/ Essex is
nice also, but have not cruised there. There are people at my club who do
regularly so I could find out more. I would also offer New Londo
Milford is one of those places where drawing no more than 5 feet is
VERY helpful, if not mandatory. Unless they have dredged it in the
last 5 years or so, there were several sand humps near the mouth of
the river that my keel would bump on my way in or out unless it was

John,
Not to speak for the group, but I think one of the more fun aspects of
a rendezvous is the dock meet ups and walking around exploring other’s boats —
which is kind of lost on moorings or raft-ups.
Port Jeff is a great location, but there’s only one really good marina
and
Clinton is much more "doable" for Indigo. Might I suggest Pt Jefferson as an
alternate? Heard recently of a large Catalina owners gathering there. My Club
also just held a raft up party there with 13 boats rafted (anchor not mooring)
- great fun. No mall - but many more options than Clinton
Peregrine will be there...unless I leave her in Nova Scotia next fall.
