Joe -- When I purchased the 1981 C&C34 in late 2017 it had what was likely original halyards -- wire to rope halyards -- main and jib. I purchased a new wire rope main halyard for the start of 2018 because the sheave setup required wire. I replaced the jib with all line the beginning of 2018.

We had a wear problem on our Main Halyard so we went back to wire to rope on that. We've never had a problem with the Jib / Genoa or Spinnaker halyards as the mast exits for those are well protected on our mast (built by Offshore Spars). Ken H. On Wed, 11 Mar 2020 at 12:12, Edd Schillay via CnC-
