I bought the model that Fred is offering a few years ago for my waste tank and
like it very much. The sensor for that one sticks to the outside of the tank.

The install is pretty straightforward. First off the biggest advantage to
this system is that it uses some type of capacitance to detect level.
Similar to the way our smartphones detect touch. The sensors are
completely external to the tank and simply adhere to the outside. This
means NO LEAKS.
I installed a single tank sensor on my holding tank a few years ago and it
works well. The boat came with C&C water tank sensors and the panel has lights
and switches which did not work. I pulled two of the tank inserts this summer
and it is just bare wire ends at 3 levels and a ground wire- a

On our 37/40 the level sensors and wiring for the indicators must have been

Fred,
I might have another order for you. By chance a client asked about tank
monitors today. He wants ones that stick to the outside of a plastic
tank. Tank-Edge does this? I'll go look after dinner.

Were I ordering a new tank, before I installed it, I would install a sight
tube on the outside on the tank. There is nothing more positive. And I have
never found a better or simpler gauge. I would put a couple of petcocks on
it so I could easily replace the tube without spilling diesel in the boat
I’ve gotten some interest in the Tank-Edge Smart Mini monitor (one sensor), and
will be putting in an order for at least three systems early next week. Any
other takers?

I’ve gotten set up with the Tank-Edge guys as a dealer. If anyone’s interested
in their monitors, I can get the Smart Mini with one sensor for $115 plus
shipping, and the iSeries Standard (marine version with conformal coating) with
three sensors for $185 plus shipping.

Here is one that I considered ordering as I have no sensor on my holding tank.
Be good to hear if someone tries it and it works:

Yes, I did it according to the instructions, on a brand new holding tank I
installed. The "installation manual" was one 8 1/2 X 11 sheet folded in
half, with most of the space taken up by the logo.

Hmm... thanks for the review Jim. I was almost sold on this system. Is it
safe to assume you reviewed the installation manual? It seemed pretty
specific about the distance apart and the square inches for the pads.

I have the Snake River mini. In 6 years I have never managed to get it
calibrated. It shows either empty, half-full, or full, depending on whether
the adjuster is at Position 1 or Position 1 +/- 1°. I see from my Googling
that this is not an uncommon problem.

I’ve worked on/installed some that used capacitance to measure levels; the one
used on the Hunters used to be the Snake River system. I think they might have
been bought up by another company; no Google hits for them, but rather for

Josh,
Look hard at ultrasonic level sensors that mount in the top of the tank.
Pricey but possibly worth it.
Also, I seem to recall some sensors that mount on the outside of plastic
tanks. Maybe 3-4 per tank. They are contactless. That is, they don't
make contact with the liquid so they are no

I have WEMA USA sensors on the holding tank and the fresh water tanks. The
