Boats built in the C&C Custom Shop generally did not use the vinyl rubrail
sandwiched between the hull flange and deck.

Violeta,
All the drawings for the C&C 43 reside in the C&C collection in the archives if
the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston (Ontario). If you contact the
museum curator through the website you can order a copy of the construction
plan which most likely show the toe rail and hull
Interestingly enough I've just written an article on Mars Metal for the next
issue of Professiomal Boatbuilder Magazine. Their ability to provide not only a
bolt on two piece bulb but the design service to recommend the weight of bulb
to achieve the same sailing stability as the deep draft keel
Thanks David,We were there this past Fall. Quite magnificent. And yes, Nat Herreshoff gets prominent mention when discussing the evolution of keels.RobSent from Samsung Mobile Original message From: David Jacobs Date:02-07-2015 1:31 PM (GMT-05:00) To: 'robertlmazza'
Martin,Yes, the C&C drawings at the Marine Museum are a tremendous resource. However, I had forgotten that the 43 keel was a combination of iron and lead castings. I'm in the process of doing a series of articles for Good Old Boat on the evolution of the keel in sailing yachts, and the 43 would be

Thanks Harry,
I enjoyed giving it and was pleased to have such a large and knowledgeable
audience. It was a good combination of the old and the new with Mark Mills'
presentation on the new C&Cs following right after.

Mike,
Odd you should ask. I am copying this Peter Cohrs in Kingston, ON, who just
finished doing a major restoration of a Frigate, and won the coveted
Cuthbertson trophy at the recent Corvette Rendezvous in Cobourg, ON..

What I personally would find interesting is what this esteemed group thinks are
the top ten C&Cs of all time? The reason for your choice would also be of
interest.

The original of that drawing is most likely in the C&C Collection at the Marine
Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston (ON). If you contact them through their
website you could probably obtain your own digital copy for a modest price. An
institution well worth supporting in its own right, but eve
Don't forget Don Moyer and Moyer Marine as a source A4 parts and components.
Their website is a valuable asset for all Atomic Four owners and Don's personal
contribution to providing valuable information for the care and maintenance of
this amazing little engine should not go unrewarded. Anyone
There is another possibility. C&C purchased one of the early SCRIMP infusion
licenses in the late 1980s. Early infusion, especially in the learning process,
was often done with clear gelcoat to visually confirm complete saturation of
the hull after it was removed from the mould. This could be
Jim,
Thank you for this. I have forwarded the link to George Cuthbertson, Rob Ball,
Mark Ellis, Dirk Kneulman, and others. Coincidentally, George came across a
newspaper clipping from the '80s referencing this production, asking if had
ever been made. We had no recollection of it. Your email
Bob,
What ever happened to Stan Gardner who I remember representing Canada Metals at

Many Thanks Harry,
I encourage all C&C owners to support the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes to
help preserve and digitize the C&C Collection. There will be a major Yachting
exhibit at the Marine Museum in 2014 centered on C&C, as well.
