I have sold Frolic II, C&C 36 cb 1979, and I would like to say thank you to
everyone on the list. Over the years I have picked up some great tips and even
contributed a few times to help others.
I wish everyone a great sailing year in 2017, one day I could return.

This has been an interesting topic to follow for several days as I have owned
and raced a C&C 30 and now own and race a C&C 36 cb. I bought the 30' new in
1975 and raced her on the upper Chesapeake Bay in the Columbia Sailing Assoc.
(CSA). I had a 160 genoa, deck sweeper, and could carry it in b
I have been racing Frolic II, 36' cb, on Wednesday nights for 10 years. We race
using PHRF and I am the big boat in the fleet with a rating of 127, everyone
gets time. It has been a lot of fun over the years and the crew and I look
forward to it. Frolic is for sale as I am looking to downsize an
I have the same issue and what we do on light air days is lower the halyard a
few inches and use the cunningham to tighen the luff, you are not effecting the
foot usually.

It seems this is the year for the shaft to remove itself from the coupler. I
race on Wednesday nights on the Bohemia River and 4 weeks ago I had decided to
go out early and warm up a little. I had to return to the fuel dock to pick up
one crew member. I was adjacent of the pier and he hopped abo
I race on Wednesday nights on the Bohemia River in Maryland and lately the race
committee has been doing a better job having a windward start and a down wind
leg. Unfortunately, I use an assymetrical spinnaker which does very poorly dead
down wind, even gybing has not helped. One of my crew was
Two years ago I had the aluminum fuel tank replaced with a fiberglass tank. I
started noticing the smell of diesel the year before, the Admiral noticed it
more than me. The bilge area under the engine started showing signs of diesel
and it got worst over time. The aluminum tank was pulled by the
After some great years of sailing and racing I have decided the 36' C&C is a
little too much for this older body. I regret to say that Frolic II will be for
sale very soon. I am looking at a smaller sailboat and like the Alerion 28 and
the Harbor 25, both have some good pedigree.
I will talkin
I looked at it yesterday at my local Harbor Freight and decided not to
purchase. One of the big factors for me was the weight, just under 70 lbs. That
is too much for me to put in a locker and get out. The price is right
considering the comparable Honda is $999.00.

I have an odor of diesel in all of my cushions. It is not a strong smell, when
you first go below it is more revelent - after you are there for awhile it is
not as bad. If anyone has had a similar problem and solved the issue, I would
love to know how. Obviously, a total replacement would work.
Joel,
The Hylas 44 is a great sailboat, I did not own one - a friend did. I had
purchased a new Hylas 47 in 1989 and sailed her to St Thomas from Ft Lauderdale
to join the CYC fleet which was all Hylases. I met and became friends with
another Tom and he had a new Hylas 44. We did some saili
There is a product on the market that solves the fuel vent line from taking on
water, it is the H2Out Systems. It is worth a look to check it out.
I am not associated with the company in any way.

Two years ago I purchased the Selden sprit at the Annapolis Boat Show. It sat
in my basement for the winter and in the spring I tried to install the sprit to
no avail. The problem was the anchor roller alignment and the bow cleats did
not allow the sprit to fit under the furling roller. I return
The engine is at a small angle because the shaft exits about 4 " to port of
center. The shaft has to remain straight to the transmission.

Not paying attention this past Monday I hit the piling at the fuel dock with
the stanchion on the starboard side that is used as part of the gate. The
stanchion was not damaged, the stainless steel support was bent and I am trying
to figure out if I should try bending it back or replace it. The

I was wondering where my original C&C 30' is now. I purchased her in
1975, brand new, from Havre de Grace Marina in Maryland. What a beauty,
chocolate brown hull with a cameo deck. It had the Atomic 4 engine
that ran like a dream. I had never sailed in my life when I purchased
her and Arvid, t

Kevin,
Were you a Navy Seal? No one in their right mind would go for sail in the
conditions you described.
When the temperatures get as low as everyone is describing, you want to be home
either reading a book or watching a movie- maybe taking care of the children's
mother.
