Fred,
I replaced the throttle and shift cables on my C&C 44 in 2016 after the
shift cable broke.
The Edson information I received with the boat suggested that I needed a 64
series (5/16" ends) gear shift cable and a 33 series throttle cable.(10-32
ends).
I couldn't get Teleflex 64 series stuff so
I have used an industrial hydraulic shop to replace the seals on Child's
Play's Navtec hydraulic backstay, Navtec boom vang as well as the Navtec
control panel.
The replacement seals used for the hydraulic fluid seem fine. All are
functioning fine after between 6 and 2 years since the work was don
My C&C 44, hull number 18 built in 1985 was another Blair Vedder "Night
Train". It might be the next "Night Train" after the C&C 43. The build file
has lots of correspondence between Blair and C&C about a variety of topics.
The most discussion was about Blair's insistence about the dark blue gel

Which size Paneltronics LEDs fit the C&C panel?
Is it 1/4"?
I also have a least 1 blown indicator light and would like to replace
it/them.

Thanks to all for the input.
It looks like I will look for a good match in pattern with with teak veneer.
I was planning to use the oil only to match the color but will use some
kind of varnish on top. The idea of not having to do any interior trim
maintenance for 30 years does appeal to me

It is time to refresh the interior of my 1986 44 and I have a section that
I would like to re-veneer. Does anyone know what the wood veneer is on the
mid 80's C&C's?
Is it teak or some kind of mahogany?
The best match I have found is the Teak Veneer Quartered from Oakwood
Veneers.

The Dr. LED 3 color tricolor bulb had the RF noise problem. I never tried a
white LED in the tricolor and suspect that it would be fine as the white
anchor LED worked fine. At the time I researched my problem with the 3
color light I was not alone with the LED interfering with the VHF. It may

I installed LED's all around on my boat and had no issues with the running
lights or anchor light.
The 3 color tricolor from Dr. LED was another story. It produced noise on
the VHR radio (antenna is no more than 1 foot from the tricolor) making VHF
unusable with the tricolor on.. I tried a variety

We all know C&C's are the prettiest boats on the water. My 44 has been
called the "prettiest boat on the lake" by many people not including me :)

I would like to re-ask Don's original questions about the 40 Aft Cabin. I
went with Don to look at this boat hoping to add to the
I find the fastest way to do this is to use a tape measure that is
sufficiently long and rigid.
Extend it through the boom. Once through use electrical tape to tape the
end of the reefing line to the end of the tape measure and pull it through.
It doesn't take much more than a minute per line. I do
Thanks for all the input. I will summarize what I have found so far about
engine replacements.
Much to my surprise pricing for new Yanmar engines with similar hp (55 hp)
to the old engine pricing is better in Canada compared to the US.
With "boat show" pricing I have been quoted $14,900 US (list $1
The Yanmar 4JH-TE on our C&C 44 went bang on the weekend. It was the last
thing on the boat that hadn't been replaced so in some ways it is a relief
to replace it. It is unclear whether we will go new or remanufactured at
this point.
I have been appalled in the past at Canadian pricing on Yanmar pa
