Best part way to clean thru-hulls is soaking in muriatic acid. It is hazardous
so care must be taken in handling the product. Wear gloves and use in a well
ventilated area. Depending on the condition it may take a few changes of acid
but it will clean everything completely. Rinse well with
Soak in cleaning vinegar. It's double the strength (10%) of food-grade.
The surface will turn pink, which might freak you out, but I understand
it's just a surface deposition of copper and cleans up with a scotch-brite
pad or steel wool.

For shooting through the hull, Airmar makes a P 79 transducer for Raymarine and

What makes this attractive is that it is designed to handle any slant in the

Dennis,
I should add that it matters if the LED bulb distributes the light
differently. If the lumens are the same, but the light distribution is
different, then I would think the bulbs would not be equivalent.

there is no accurate way to convert power (V*I) to lumens. Basically the

Dennis,
Watts is watts. A 3.4 watt bulb at 12 volts (0.28 amps) will draw 10x
the current as at 120 volts (.028 amps). but the lumens should be about

This link to a GE miniature lamp catalog contains a wealth of information.
Brightness is expressed in "spherical candlepower", where one candela is
approximately equal to 12.5 lumens. Don't get distracted by sites with purist
definitions, this is close enough for farm use in this context.
