We had a cam cleat on the mast for the spin halyard on our J27. I think it was a pretty standard thing on J Boats. Initially I disliked it but I can see where it is more important as the spinnaker sail area gets larger on bigger boats. On the J27 fractional rig the spinnaker was pretty small
