Sometime last fall, someone on this list mentioned a couple of books for
reading, one was Whynott's "A Unit of Water, A Unit of Time", which I purchased
and have just finished. I failed to note the name of the person who suggested
this book, but I wish to say thank you; what a great work!I
No, I'm bringing it to Vancouver when I can.

Yes, 1994. I know that the factory burned that year and I wonder if it was
built before that or finished somewhere else.

The C&C 30 MK1 hull #7 I just bought does not have a boom vang. Perhaps because
its boom appears designed for furling the main by rolling it around the outside
of the boom. Or perhaps because vangs were not standard equipment on 30-1s (I
don't see vangs in the brochures). But in l
There's no simple answer to this (it's something you may just have to find
your own preferences for) but the common answer is around 15 knots - or
wait till 20 knots, but you'll probably be compensating for over-canvasing
at that point (traveled way down, dumping wind, pinching up in gusts, etc).
C&C Sailors-
I noticed the owner of C&C 30 MK1 hull #1, Rick Bushie, is on this list. It's
awesome that boat is still sailing, and that her owner is in this community.

Depends on if you are racing or cruising, sea state, wind conditions and what
headsail you are using – to say nothing of what the Admiral will tolerate. If
you are consistently heeling more that 10 or 15 degrees, it is time to think
about reducing sail. One way to do that is size the headsail
Al,
Welcome to the list! And congratulations on the purchase of an amazing C&C (not
that I'm too biased.)
We are all here for you.

If I am by myself, flying a 130 genoa, I will reef the main at about 15kts,
makes for a much more comfortable ride. If I’m lazy, I’ll just fly the genoa
without main and still have plenty speed.

I believe C&C used a reddish color stain over the teak plywood to make all the
bulkheads look the same. There has been a lot of discussion on this forum
about matching the teak color.

Does anyone know for certain what species the wood veneer would be on the
cabinets and bulkheads in my 1980 C&C36? We talk about teak wood work all the
time on this list, and certainly the fids, hand rails, and exterior trim wood
is teak, but the plywood veneer looks an awful lot like mahogany

Grainger has grey butyl 3” width rolls and 2” by 2” grey butyl patches by the

Guys,
This may sound counter intuitive, but most marine electronics designed to be
helm mounted do not necessitate a water tight enclosure. If you’re concerned
with water puddling inside the pod, simply drill a small (1/16”) drain hole at
the lowest point. Running cables through grommets will
A totally hypothetical idea:
If you have a "maker space" near you, draw what you need in illustrator or

Kind of elaborate.

hmm Ron I’m not sure if that would work.
The original gaskets, as far as I can tell, are triangular-shaped with holes
top and bottom for the securing bolts that go through the back of the navpod
