After dozens of successful dual boots with Ubuntu and other
Debian-derived distros (3D!) I've encountered my first unbootable
machine tonight, with the little-loved error message "Missing
operating system".
I've got Windows 7 back now with the boot flag on the primary
partition device, but no grub
'Tis my third day in town, and I find myself wondering where the
internet cafes and better wifi locations are. I have a map of the free
wifi network in Edmonton (saved from screen capture so I don't have to
be online to find access), but I don't know of anything similar here.
Suggestions, anyone?

FYI, I am sending this from a Saskatchewan Transportation Company
coach traveling from Saskatoon to Regina. While I don't have a power
outlet, it is nice to have wifi that works. Unfortunately, not all
routes have it. I'm not complaining though, as I'm taking advantage of

Last weekend, while attempting to take photos for a panorama that I
would later stitch together, my backpack was involved in an unplanned
"condensed-duration elevation reduction event", commonly known as a
sudden drop. Inside, mimicking Humpty Dumpty, was the Acer Aspire
laptop that I had purchased
Thousands of people have lost everything in the fire that destroyed
much of Slave Lake and forced the population to evacuate. The new
library is gone. That means hundreds of school-age children will have
no access to computers when they return to the area and families will
be without computers and
vicinity of Slave Lake or
nearby communities where there are emergency shelters? Are any of you
able to assist with either distribution or orientation of new Ubuntu
users?

of computer equipment for those residents of the Slave Lake area that
lost their belongings in the fire. Two pickups are pending and there
are two other families that are waiting for a computer.
