(reduce + (range 1000)) takes about 4 msecs on N900 with the Sun JRE.
For comparison: 0.3 msecs on MacBook Pro, 2.16 GHzCore Duo, 2 GB RAM.

That is exactly what I did, downloaded a JRE (see links above) and
used it with the clojure.jar on the classpath; an image with the REPL
can be seen here:

The Sun JRE seems faster, but can be used only for 90 days.
