Hello, in the process of the installation of a software package it need to stop any running instanc of freshclam. This was done with a invoke-rc.d stop clamav-freshclam. However it takes several minutes and we want to speed up the process. Now we use SIGKILL to stop it faster, but we don't know

I want clamd and freshclam (running in daemon mode) to create PID files in /var/run. Both are running as user and group "amavisd". Amavisd does not have permissions to create files in /var/run. What is the best (safest) way to give amavisd permissions to create the PID file in /var/run? Thank
