I'm seeing this on Fedora Core 3 with the latest updates.
Here are the permissions on /dev/console:
crw--- 1 root root 5, 1 May 8 18:02 /dev/console
I have "User clamav" defined in clamd.conf and see in 0.84 that
clamav-milter runs as clamav, also. Maybe it is dropping privileges too
