Same problem here. I'm using clamav instead of clamavmodule now in
Mailscanner, which seems to work without a problem.
Has someone a clue how to fix this problem? Or how to downgrade with
apt-get to 0.88.6 on a debian sarge machine?

Forcefully upgrading the Mail:ClamAV module seems to have fixed the
issue. I did this as per advice from Sarah of configserver.com.
/scripts/perlinstaller --force Mail::ClamAV
I have now switched back to clamavmodule in mailscanner.conf. Works fine now.
