I was seeing the same behavior. I am using MIMEDefang to feed incoming
mail to clamd on Slowaris 8. Compiled 20040628 and the clamd daemon
stabalized ... so far (crosses fingers).

I've had clamd (0.73) die silently on me twice this morning on two
separate systems each (total 4 deaths), one Soalris 2.8 the other
Solaris 2.6. Has someone managed to figure out how to shut it down

which cases might clamd die without cleaning the socket file.
Try a recent version (0.71 or even a CVS snapshot),
and run clamdwatch on your crontab (included under contrib directory
on source tarball).

Hi,
Are there any particular reasons why clamd
Hi,
Are there any particular reasons why clamd might die all of sudden? It
happens to me atleast once a week. And then I have to many a times
remove the clamd file and restart clamd. And the worst part is that
my messages starts bouncing if clamd dies stating that it cannot connect
to clamd.
