You hit it right on the head! I actually had the same thought earlier,
but apparently that brain cell died or something.
Thanks!

It depends on the version of Unix OS you have. If you are using Solaris
or Linux, which it appears you are using Linux, you need to create a link
to that startup script in one the run level init directories.
I usually put stuff like this rc2.d or rc3.d. So, say, in /etc/rc2.d, do:
ln -s /etc/rc

I currently have Clam .72 and I want to upgrade to .80
How do I uninstall .72?
Or, would it be easier to just upgrade to .80 with .72 still on the server?
The documentation does not say how to upgrade or uninstall. I don't want 2
version of clam on the server.

I use ClamAV in association with qmailscanner and SpamAssassin to filter
email. Several times in the past three days this mail server has become
unresponsive. The only things that I can think of that has changed in
that time are the virus definitions used by Clam. ps -A | grep clamscan

clamd
starts when system initializes: I copied clamd and clamscand
into /etc/rc.d/init.d b but it does not starts. May be anythig else must be
configured?

I'd suggest to clean /var/amav

When I ps, I see clamd, postfix, and amavis (master, and 2 x child) running.
