By any chance do you have two (or more) USB serial devices plugged in? I
am no Chirp expert, but I wonder if you should be using say ttyUSB1 or
something other than zero.

e have a DOS program written back in 1985 (or
whenever), and we don't want to modernize it. My Python skills are not
good enough to do it, but I would have thought that moving to version 3
was a better long term strategy.
