Go to device manager (right click this pc>properties) and check what jumps
under ports(com and lpt) when you plug in the cable.
If the cable has a fake prolific chip you need to install older driver.
Mine has ch340 that is plug and play on win10

On older uv-5r the default range for vhf was 136-174. Now some show 130-179!
Does older models support shorter range or is it just different default
settings and all support 130-179(or more?)
