I am a long time user of CHIRP and I just realized there is a key bit of
knowledge I lack... and unless I'm missing it... it is also missing from
the web site's FAQ. Where did the name come from? Does CHIRP stand for
something? Did Dan's first radio keep chirping at him every time he

I have a Kenwood TM-V7 and a Baofeng UV-5R, along with the appropriate
programming cables. I'm running Linux, and write python, php, and rust for
my day job.
