Sent this earlier, but accidentally to poster and not to list. I have programmed mine with chirp and a standard usb mini cable. Only thing I had to do was trim some of the insulation on the plug because of the round recess around the socket.

Joe, Here is the list of supported radios: https://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Supported_Radios FT70D is listed but not the DR. Maybe take a look to see the differences? Probably the same or almost the same radio. You will need a programming cable if your radio didn't come with one.
