If I grep for "pring" in the files in the build directory for
chirp-daily-20220515, it generates this output
/build/lib.linux-aarch64-2.7/chirp/drivers/vx6.py:
pring(traceback.format_exc())
The problem is only with vx6.py.
I'm behind in updates so this problem may have already been correct
Typo?
'G' is just below 'T' on a US/UK keyboard.

Oh there also seems to be an unrecognized function named "pring" on line
826 of the vx6.py driver tarball I downloaded had hg hash f681fdfb94dd in
the name. My other emails never came through from before but I did want to
put that out there that that was in the logs.

So I believe I have discovered the issue. I used my other FTDI USB to
serial adapter which just has a simple pin header on it. I wired it up
using a spare diode and 10k resistor for a pull up for single wire comm and
it consistently works even in windows with the latest version of CHIRP.

But yes Mac is based on BSD, so it is a rock solid (the BSD
part) foundation.

This might require root privilege

Local hams around here that are avid MAC users all seem to have simple windows

Windows. I have no issues w/ Windows, but I've used it for decades and
supported it for a handful of years, so I do OK with it. I also run Mac &
There were even some Fake FTDI chips about a few years ago.
In Windows, use the Device Manager to view the list of connected
devices. Look under printer & serial devices, if a Serial device is
marked with a yellow warning triangle with a ! in the middle, there is a

That is possible.
Windows and linux identified my chip as made by FTDI. I wasn't sure how to
check on mac.
I was/am using a CT-1 from ttl2usb dot com.
Hard to tell if ttl2usb dot com sourced a bad chip or not.
I have had this serial device for quite a few years. But the last time I
used it I

I've sent a couple emails with logs and more information but it looks like
they both have been memory holed. After trying many different combinations
between the two radios and image files and operating systems I was able to
get the linux version of CHIRP 0.3.0dev on Debian 11 to program one of
