Going to depend on which version of macOS you're running.
If you're using Ventura (13.x):
1. Open System Settings
2. Select General
3. Scroll to the bottom on the right side and select "System Report"
4. Under Hardware, select USB.
5. Try inserting and removing the cable, you should see something
