I too found it to be very picky about the cable. I tried two from Amazon with different chips in each, and neither worked with CHIRP. I was able to get one to work with FT-60 Commander by using its “Alternate Cable Config”…or something like that. I don’t recall the exact menu choice. 73, N0EYE O
