I was thinking as a stop gap I could add some code to just check for the
objects existence in RGW before taking any action?

Thanks very much for responding - my problem was not realizing that you need a
separate ragdosgw daemon for the zone that hosts the cloud tier. Once I got
past this concept your example worked great for a simple setup.
